The Black Box Belfast was filled to capacity on Saturday 28th March as families, friends, and young filmmakers gathered to celebrate the achievements of this years Cinemagic BFI Film Academy screening at Cinemagic’s On The Pulse Festival.

The showcase marked the culmination of the BFI Film Academy Short Course delivered locally by Cinemagic, which ran from the end of September through December. Delivered at weekends the course brought together 20 students with a shared passion for film and storytelling.

There are 49 BFI Film Academy Short Courses delivered across the UK and offer young people aged 16–19 the opportunity to gain practical filmmaking experience, industry knowledge, and professional mentorship. The courses act as an important stepping stone into further specialist training and careers in film, television, and the wider screen industries.

Throughout the programme, participants worked towards an OCN qualification in Film Production, gaining hands-on experience across all stages of filmmaking. The students were divided into two production crews, each tasked with developing and producing a short film to a professional standard. Both films premiered on Saturday, showcasing the creativity, technical skill, and collaboration developed over the duration of the course.
