We are fully committed to continue to provide our audience with a programme of high quality films, practical creative opportunities and film education resources.
‘THE BIG DRIVE INN’ PRESENTS –
DRIVE-IN MOVIES AT NEWTOWNARDS AIRFIELD
We are very pleased to be working in association with ‘The Big Drive Inn’ to bring a series of Drive-In experiences to towns across Northern Ireland over the summer months. First up the movie roadshow will be visiting Newtownards Airfield over the weekend 26-28 June. Come along & enjoy some movie magic!

All young people participating in the juries will watch a selection of short films before choosing their favourite. The films will be screened in their original language with English subtitles where necessary.
You will be sent an event description with further details as well as a form that must be returned to us signed by the applicant (if over 18); or by the parent/guardian of an applicant (under 18).
Deadline to register – 30th June.
The Online Festival Jury Programme is a cross- border initiative and open to young people and families in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

YOUNG FILMMAKER SPOTLIGHT
The Young Filmmaker Spotlight series, on
Cinemagic TV, showcases the very best short films directed by young filmmakers with insight into the filmmaking process with cast and crew introductions.
On the latest edition Cinemagic Young Filmmaker Max Barry introduces his film BENITO.
BENITO was shortlisted in the Best Film 18-25 category at Cinemagic Young Filmmaker 2019.

UPLOAD, DOWNLOAD
Cinemagic is on the look out for youth groups and community groups across Northern Ireland to register their interest in a new project ‘Upload Download’. The summer project will give participants the chance to view new films programmed by Cinemagic. The films will offer the opportunity to experience diverse storytelling and filmmaking from directors around the world.
‘Upload, Download’ supported by The National Lottery Community Fund will focus on a number of strands – one of which is the summer programme that will present a series of online film screenings and activities for community groups and youth groups, to inspire, motivate and educate participants. It will give those involved a platform to access youth focused content to support memorable learning and help develop life skills.
The call-out is open to 4-25 year olds with films for different age groups and a youth or community leader is required to register on behalf of the group for a minimum of 6 x participants. To register or find out more please contact us via the link below.

CINEMAGIC YOUNG FILMMAKER 2020
Cinemagic is looking for imaginative and original films made by young people to be screened as part of CINEMAGIC YOUNG FILMMAKER 2020. The films can be about anything at all! Fact or fiction, comedy or drama, news programme or documentary.
CINEMAGIC YOUNG FILMMAKER 2020 will take place during the CINEMAGIC BELFAST FESTIVAL in October/November. The event will showcase the best short film entries of the year and we will also be producing a series of workshops and master classes with renowned members of the film and TV industry. A digital filmmaking prize will be awarded for the best film in each age and genre category – the winning entries will also be screened ‘IN COMPETITION’ during the CINEMAGIC INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL FOR YOUNG PEOPLE in 2021.
CINEMAGIC BLOGSTARS
We are looking for Young People to become official Cinemagic ‘Blogstars’ to write movie reviews and film focused articles for the Cinemagic Website. If you’ve a passion for writing, journalism and film criticism then this is a perfect opportunity for you showcase your work and creativity.

YOUNG CONSULTANTS 2020 IS GOING ONLINE!
We have launched our annual call for young film enthusiasts to take on the role of ‘film consultants’ this July to help programme a series of films for the annual Cinemagic Festival that will take place in October-November 2020.
This year due to the current social distancing guidelines we will be going online. Young programmers will get the opportunity to view films from home before debating and making their selections via interactive forums and workshops led by the Cinemagic programming team. If you know a budding film critic who would enjoy the opportunity to help to decide the content of the largest film festival for young people in the UK and Ireland please let us know!
