Young Filmmakers Invited to Join Short Film Academy

Cinemagic has launched its search for a young film production crew for a new short film academy for 18-25 year olds in Northern Ireland. Under the guidance of industry professionals, the crew will have the chance to develop filmmaking skills and earn a credit on the film production in October 2021.

Cinemagic is looking for committed, talented and creative young people who will gain access to industry professionals during and prior to making the short film. The successful applicants will participate in a compulsory programme of intensive and practical training through online workshops led by the professional mentors.

The opportunity will provide the young filmmakers with an invaluable insight to many aspects of filmmaking and the essential skills required in each area. The young people will be assigned individual roles on the film crew and must ensure that they are available project dates.

Joan Burney Keatings MBE, Cinemagic Chief Executive said “We encourage young filmmakers to get involved in our latest initiative focusing on short film production. It is a wonderful chance to network with likeminded young people and collaborate with professionals in the creative industries.”

How to apply: All training and filming will take place in Northern Ireland. Young people are expected to make their own way to and from training and filming each day. No previous experience necessary. You must be able to commit to the programme for its duration and the programme will be delivered in line with government and public health guidance in relation to Covid-19.
