Cinemagic is inviting 16-25 yr olds to apply for a chance to be part of a new music video production project, one of series of special initiatives taking place to mark the UEFA Women’s U19 Championship Finals taking place in Northern Ireland in 2017.
Cinemagic will recruit two teams- a music video team (including a behind the scenes crew) and a song writing & production team who will work under the guidance of industry professionals and towards an end goal of producing a song and music video over the next three months which will be showcased globally next summer.
Joan Burney Keatings MBE, Cinemagic Chief Executive said “With support from the Department of Communities and our partners at the IFA, we are able to present a fantastic opportunity for aspiring creative industries professionals to work on a truly unique project. We will be able to offer skills development training in a wide range of production disciplines and in doing so help nurture young talent.”
Communities Minister Paul Givan, MLA said: “I am delighted to be supporting the Cinemagic IFA project as it provides an opportunity for young people from all backgrounds to collaborate in arts, music, sport and film from grass roots up and showcase the talent of our young people from Northern Ireland on both a local and international stage.”
Sara Booth, Tournament Director, UEFA Women’s U19 Championship Finals said “The Irish Football Association is very excited to work alongside Cinemagic and the Department of Communities to produce this innovative piece of work. The UEFA Women’s Under 19 Championship in 2017 is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Northern Ireland at its best and this collaboration is an exciting example of how culture, arts and leisure can be combined during a major event”.
The roles and responsibilities required include the ability to work in a team to write, record and produce the song. Please note this will be a song writing, lyrics writing, recording and production role and will not require performance or singing.
Key desired skills include some but not all of the following:
-The ability to play a musical instrument (ideally guitar, piano or classical instrument) OR the ability to work with music software (abelton, logic, garageband, audacity or similar OR the ability to write (prose, fiction, poetry, lyrics)
-An interest in contemporary music
-Ability to work in a team
-Ability to work under pressure
If invited to become part of the team you must be available to attend all of the following events/dates (all events are in Belfast unless otherwise stated)
9 November: 11.00am-12 noon- Full briefing for all music team including seminar on song writing from Stuart Flemming, Senior Manager, PRS for Music.
15-16 November: 10.00am-4.00pm- 2 day intensive song writing boot camp.
HOW TO APPLY
FOR SONG WRITING AND PRODUCTION TEAM
Please send a CV or covering letter of not more than 1 page A4 (as a word doc or PDF) listing any music achievements to date and a paragraph on a recent piece of contemporary music (a song heard on local radio, a live performance, something on television, a piece of music from a film) that you have enjoyed/been inspired by and why.
Please also submit (in this document if soft copy) one link to a piece of music/creativity you have been involved in the creation of. This could be
1) A link to a video on YouTube, vimeo or a social media channel
2) A simple recording of a song or piece of music you have made as part of this application process. If you have access to a computer this could be by downloading a programme called “audacity” (free recording device) and creating and uploading a track to “soundcloud” (also free to register as a user) If you do not have access to a computer, you could submit a phone recording (uploaded to soundcloud)
3) A link to a piece of music on i-tunes, bandcamp, or a music streaming site
4) A lyric, poem or creative piece of writing
5) A covering letter and physical CD sent to the Cinemagic address below
Please do NOT attach MP3s into any application-any submissions via email that include an MP3, .wav or audio recording will be deemed ineligible.
