In the lead up to the Cinemagic Dublin Festival, the Festival team is looking for young people aged 16-25, from Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland to be part of a production crew for a film being made during the Cinemagic Dublin Film Academy from 27th-31st March 2017.
The short film will be made under the guidance of industry professionals, led by filmmaker Patrick Maxwell, Headline Films. Budding filmmakers will have the chance to develop their talents and earn their credit on the local production which will be screened as part of the Cinemagic Dublin Film Festival in May 2017.
Cinemagic is looking for committed, talented and creative young people who will gain access to industry professionals during the week long academy. The successful applicants will participate in a programme of intensive and practical training through masterclasses and workshops led by the professional mentors. There will also be an Industry Spotlight Programme during which Guest Speakers from different areas of the film industry will visit the Academy and take part in Q&A and Masterclass sessions.
Guest speakers include John Butler– Director whose credits include Handsome Devil, The Stag and Your Bad Self; Michael Lennox – BAFTA Winner and Oscar Nominated Director of Boogaloo and Graham and Patch of Fog; Diarmuid Noyes –Actor whose credits include Borgia, Five Minutes of Heaven, Killing Bono, Good Vibrations and Chancer; Eva-Jane Gaffney of Louise Kiely Casting known for Sing Street; Handsome Devil and I Kill Giants; Dean Rossiter – Composer and Songwriter – Dean’s body of work has received Academy, Grammy, Emmy and Golden Globe awards. Dean recently composed the score for Cinemagic’s ‘Delicate Things’ and ‘Chancer’; Kieron J. Walsh -Director and Producer whose credits include The Psychopath Next Door, My Life for Ireland, Rapt; Colm Nicell and Garry Walsh – Awarding-winning DOP Colm Nicell and award-winning Producer Garry Walsh known for the hit feature documentary, ‘Older Than Ireland’,Their most recent documentary ‘Under The Clock’ will be released towards the end of 2017; Alison Crinion – Communications Director, Industry Trust for IP Awareness Ireland; Liam Ryan – Production Manager and Industry & Short Film Programmer for the Dublin International Film Festival; and Aidan Gault- Cinematographer whose credits include Zoo, The Party, Delicate Things,Chancer.
The Cinemagic Dublin Film Academy will provide young filmmakers with an invaluable insight to all aspects of filmmaking and the essential skills required in each area. The young people will be assigned individual roles on the film crew and must ensure that they are available from 27th – 31st March for training and filming.
Application Information: All training and filming will take place in Dublin.Participants are expected to make their own way to and from training and filming each day. No previous experience necessary. We will welcome applications from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. You need to be between the ages of 16 and 25 when applying.
