Cinemagic is now recruiting the next cohort of aspiring young creatives for the 2026 Cinemagic Connects Academy supported by the Reconciliation Fund, administered by The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ireland. The Fund was established to support civil society organisations in creating a better understanding between people and traditions on the island of Ireland, and between Ireland and Britain.

From March to May selected participants aged 16-25 from across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland will take part in a series of exciting film masterclasses and pre-production workshops — all leading up to the creation of a professionally-mentored short film.

This unique programme offers hands-on experience across a range of filmmaking disciplines. Whether you’re passionate about directing, writing, camera, production design or sound, this is your chance to gain real industry insight and earn a credit on a short film that will be submitted to international film festivals. We’re looking for committed, creative, and collaborative young people ready to learn, connect, and create. No previous experience is necessary.

Joan Burney Keatings MBE, Cinemagic Chief Executive, said: “Thanks to the continued support of The Reconciliation Fund, we are excited to deliver this impactful cross-border initiative that is rooted in bringing young people from diverse backgrounds together. We welcome applications from young people who are keen to explore the world of filmmaking, work together, and learn from leading industry professionals.”
