CALL FOR ENTRIES – MAIN FESTIVAL (NOT YOUNG FILMMAKER)
Cinemagic is an international film festival for young people based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was established in 1989 and over the years it has developed a worldwide reputation for excellence in children’s programming and is currently the largest award-winning children’s film festival in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
The festival includes international film screenings, movie premieres, industry Q&A’s, discussions, competitions and master classes in all aspects of filmmaking.
Cinemagic is a competitive festival with award recognition for:
|* Best feature film for a young adult audience (The Golden Reel Award)
– judged by a jury of young people aged 18-25.
|* Best feature film for a teenage audience (The Silver Reel Award)
– judged by a jury of young people aged 15-17.
|* Best feature film for a youth audience (The Emerald Reel Award)
– judged by a jury of young people aged 12-14.
|* Best feature film for a junior audience (The Golden Star Award)
– judged by a jury of young people aged 10-11.
|* Best feature film for a young audience (The Silver Star Award)
– judged by a jury of young people aged 8-9.
|* Best feature film for a children’s audience (The Emerald Star Award)
– judged by a jury of young people aged 6-7.
|* Best short film for a primary school audience (Jury’s Out Award 8+)
- Judged by primary schools (ages 8+)
|* Best short film for a secondary jnr school audience (Jury’s Out Award 12+)
- Judged by secondary jnr schools (ages 12+)
|* Best short film for a secondary school audience (Jury’s Out Award 15+)
- Judged by a secondary schools (ages 15+)
We are interested in all types of films and programmes for children and young people from preschool through to young adult. Films made within the years 2017-2019 are eligible for competition

*All entries should be in English or in their original language with English subtitles.
Alternatively we do accept postal entries on DVD (PAL) format. If you plan to send in a DVD entry please find the postal address below:

Cinemagic is looking for imaginative and original films made by young people to be screened as part of CINEMAGIC YOUNG FILMMAKER 2019. The films can be about anything at all! Fact or fiction, comedy or drama, news programme or documentary.
CINEMAGIC YOUNG FILMMAKER SHOWCASE 2019 will take place during the CINEMAGIC BELFAST FESTIVAL in October. The event will showcase the best short film entries of the year and we will also be producing a series of workshops and master classes with renowned members of the film and TV industry. A digital filmmaking prize will be awarded for the best film in each age and genre category - the winning entries will also be screened ‘IN COMPETITION’ during the CINEMAGIC INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL FOR YOUNG PEOPLE in 2020.
HOW TO ENTER

Alternatively you can submit your entry on DVD. DVD entries (along with the entry form) should be posted to CINEMAGIC YOUNG FILMMAKER 2019, Chris Shaw, Cinemagic, 49 Botanic Avenue, Belfast BT7 1JL.
PLEASE NOTE: THE COMPETITION IS ONLY OPEN TO YOUNG FILMMAKERS AGED 25 AND UNDER LIVING IN THE UK AND IRELAND.
FILMS ARE TO BE NO LONGER THAN 10 MINUTES.
The competition deadline is 30th August 2019.
